about staying.

I was born in Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria to a Nigerian mother and father. I grew up between two languages, Urhobo and English. The first stories I told were stories about my vision, imageries of myself in foreign land, unknown countries, discovering unimaginable works of The ALMIGHTY!

My work returns, again and again, to the same questions: what does it mean to inherit a place? What survives when a body, or a country, or a memory begins to disappear? I am drawn to the long take, the unhurried frame, and the quiet resilience of people the camera has historically refused to slow down for.

I believe cinema is a form of attention. To make a film is to choose what is worth looking at — and then to refuse, with patience, to look away.
